springs
joolsmi16 - 29/12/05 at 04:41 PM

Hi all, I am I right in saying that if I push the nose down and it does not return them my springs are way to soft.

Trying to set up ride heights today and have noticed that the front of the car will not return to my ride level I have to pull the front back up.

Also anyone know how to adjust pro-tech coil overs my "C" spanner that fits everything but not these??

Cheers

It sounds like sticky shocks. If the springs were to soft it would sit down all the time.

Can u adjust the damping?

Try it without the springs - do the shocks move in and out smoothly with you bouncing the car?

Wondering if they are misaligned.

Could be done up too tight on the mountings too so they dont pivot properly.

In use shock mountings must be fully tight or it will frett the mountings and bolts.

Real cause apart from the obvious of having the damper set too hard is friction between tyre and road surface.

Front of car moves up and down freely on wishbones pivots.

Front remains down once weight is put on will not return to ride height.

I have not tried adjusting damper settings.

Does it not return or return slowly?

Have you took the shock out, took the spring off and checked that the piston slides in and out smoothly.

When set on soft, you should be able to do this easily by hand.

This will elimiate the shock.

Are your springs tight up against both platforms.

Are they the right springs for your setup ie, not to soft.

Hi I think my springs are way to soft check everything the shocks move freely through its range, wishbones move okay, springs up to plateforms ect ect.

So I'll try some differents springs and try again.

What springs are they?

Rate should be scribed into the top.

I need some soft ones see.

I have a few pairs of 1.9 stiff ones - 275 and 350 I think.

Just check my springs on the top and its now clear that different springs are need as they are 6" 100lb!!

Avoneer - 30/12/05 at 02:50 PM

Is your engine if - if so, that'll be the answer.

If it's CEC - you need at least 250.

Thanks for all you help had no idea I was trying to use 100lb

Danozeman - 30/12/05 at 04:57 PM

100 is a bit low. Iv got 225 or 250s on the front of mine. Cant remember which.

Might be worth checking your rear springs if you brought them all together.

Good idea I will check all springs over the weekend.
