Dear all,
I have now got to the stage of fitting the rear axle.I know how to do this,so there are no probs. However, the hubs/halfshafts do not move when I turn
the propshaft hard and so I am just worried that I will go and attach the whole axle, only to find that the bloody thing is siezed, and I will have to
remve the whole thing! If anyone else has had this problem or anyone can reassure me that they are often stiff till you get the wheels on and push then
that would be great.Otherwise I have to go about sourcig a new axle!!!Thanks for reading...
hey mate what was the diff and driveshafts off
Off a sierra-not sure as I bought it seperately
take one of your drive shafts off and see if they have the ABS ring on the end still
its at the hub end on the wide part of the shaft before it turns into the toothed shaft which goes through the hub
its basically a load of teeth round the shaft these need machining off but only take as low as the teeth off
and dont use a grinder

I found overpacking the wheel bearings with grease can cause the shafts to be very stiff. Also if you are using a LSD they are quite stiff to turn at
the wheels.
I have experienced a sticky diff which had been stood for a while. once I had turned the flange it was ok after that.
Cheers
Mark
