
Having given up on ever getting a GTS deDion beam which is the same width as the Escort 'English' axle (for their Lotus Eleven lookalike)
I've decided to have a go at my own.
Does anybody know of any plans or previous experiences doing this. I have a friend locally who has his own fabrication business and is into all
things motive - his TIG welding is something to behold. I'm tinkering with either an alloy or stainless beam.
+ who is best to shorten the Sierra driveshafts? Is there anybody who can friction weld these?

Just so happens I still have the Escort width de dion axle I made for the Challenger before we changed it to the weird wobbly single shock doodah that
did or didn't work.......(depends if you had your eyes open or not...
...)
MK Engineering can knock you up an escort width dedion.
HERE is roughly what it looks like and basic plans for it.

yep, gb engineering shafts machined from billet to your length reqmt are £80 each, will never break and are basically a bargain.
u2u me if you need more details, he's making a pair for my 7 at the moment, the ones on my grasser have done 3 years racing now without a murmur.
in that time I have seen 5 welded shafts shear off just in races that I have been competing in, plus 2 std unmodded sierra shafts shear off, in cars
weighing only 450 ish kg.

Do you work with the lobro style cv joints or the push-in versions?
Does anybody know if one is a better bet than the other?
