So I'm trying to piece together all the remaining choices... My M16 calipers look it good nick but obviously will require a seals kit (£30 ish per side) or I'll just get some recon ones (£55 per side). Anyone have better prices than these?

Secondly if I'm spending over £100 for recon calipers is it worth spending an extra £150 or so and go for some Wilwoods/HiSpecs/Raceleda S16s? Is there really a noticeable difference in the maximum stopping power and feel?

Advice required as I'm a little confused on the cheapest / best route to take!?

Try your local motor factor, reconditioned M16's are readily available. I paid £64 the pair for mine.

Honest answer, your M16's will stop the car no problem, advantages of others are weight savings and if it is an advantage looks, you can "overbrake" a 7 if there is such a word.

I recently took the wilwood powerlights (4 pots) off my westfield which puts out around 300bhp and replaced them with m16s and it stops just as well as it always did - the tyres are the limiting factor and they are yoko32s. The difference is in unsprung weight and the ability for the system to resist fade.

You can go half way and get a caliper spacer kit from rally design which makes the calipers wider and then you'll be able to fit vented capri disc if you like which should cool better but will be heavier.

I will, admitedly, be putting the powerlights on the locost because that will see more track use.

I really don't want (afford!) to go out and buy a set of powerlites if the M16s will give me just as good performance.

To be honest I really can't imagine that a set of calipers designed to stop a 1.5 ton Sierra wouldn't be up to the job of stopping a 500 kg (ish... ) sticky shod 7.

Just the last question... Where did you get two sets of seals for £18 Mark!? When you say 'cost me', does that mean it could cost me the same?

I can get the seals for that sort of money at my local place but that doesn't include pistons, which are usually trashed as well.

Does your price of £30 a side include pistons, I'm guessing it does if the same place quoted for the full recon calipers (that price is similar to my local prices for recon cortina calipers)
