I'm back from my first trackday with the Ginetta ... lots of fun ... and lots of wheelspin (perhaps too much!)

I am now sure I killed my axle.

Do you know where I can find parts to rebuild it? And what to do to upgrade it? LSD?

Or if someone here has parts for sale?

also known as timken. Burton power sell the internalts, LSD, allow carriers and other goodies.

My car is +/-700 Kg heavy and the engine has +/-165 bhp ...

is the LSD a must have 1)for road 2)for track days 3)for both

My axle was fine before the track day. I killed it in just one day (of hard use). Would a LSD be better for that use?

The standard axle should be fine for that setup. Did it have oil in it? Was it old or on the way out to start with?

What are the symptoms of it being 'killed'

Hi does the diff flange now have movment other than rotating of course.

Diff locked 2 times on the track when braking/slowing down (both wheels locked for a few meters even when not braking)

checked the brakes (drumsą) ... they are like new

there was a little bit of play in the axle/shafts/diff when making one wheel turn (car jacked)

now the axle is very noisy and leaking ... I think it has lost all its oil coming back home ... I even had to stop to let the diff cool down a little bit

The oil level was checked before the track day and it was not leaking.

Do not really know if the axle was old or not ... it was already on the car when bought (but all the other parts were new or reconditionned)

I haven't checked the diff flange yet for strange movement

Probably better off upgrading to the more stronger Atlas Axle m8

You will spend a fortune making a English axle as strong as a Atlas

Fairly normal for rear wheels to break "traction" on a light car under heavy engine braking in the low gears. If the axle had locked you would have been in the boonies.

Hi english axle is good for 220 bhp before having to go to the expence of quaif parts. It just needs building with a few mods on the diff . The weight of a english is bad enough and needs to have careful damper ratio selected to keep it under controll on circuit a baby atlas is just a no no in a car of this weight being used on circuit. Better of in the back of a mk2 rally car where it will be right at home.

where is it leaking from?

do you have the standard 4-link/panhard setup? could it be twisting the axle under load or binding?
