Hi all,
Does anyone know of a Mazda/Ford gearbox that will bolt straight up to a 2L Duratec out of the current Focus?
AFAIK it's the same as the new MX-5 engine, but there may be a Ford/Mazda commercial RWD box that fits??
This is a question on behalf of one of my fellow builders here in Oz. He just picked up a written-off 6-month-old Focus for the equivalent of 800
squid. And the engine has not even been run in properly yet. Some people have all the luck....
Cheers,
Tim
Ford Ranger trucks are RWD and use the duratec.

You'll probably find that newish Mazda trucks also use the Duratec/trans combination, if you can't find any Fords (Ford and Mazda truck
parts are interchangeable for the most part).
The US Ford Ranger/Mazda B2300 (sold in Aussie as diesel Courier/B2500) use Mazda's M50-R1 gearbox. Same box as the RX7 Twin-turbo, but with
wider ratios.
Has a seperate bellhousing, so get a closer-ratio RX7 TT box from one of the importers and the B2300 bellhousing from Mazda, and Bob's your
auntie
or make your own adaptor for the smaller/lighter R-series MX5 trans (which has closer ratios anyway
