Escort MK2 Steering rack track rods

Is it possible to buy new track rods rather than a complete new steering rack? If so then where might i be able to get some from?
I bought a second hand quick rack not so long back and it had been modified with extensions welded into the track rod's. I realise now that this is an SVA fail. Seems a shame if i can't replace the track rods, the whole lot will be for the bin!
Cheers

If you do decide to bin it, I will swap for a standard Mk2 rack. If that's any good to you.

Have i got it right that welded extensions are not SVA friendly? I have just had a brief look in the manual and couldn't really see a reason why its not good enough?

Its a definate MOT failure...

But threaded extensions are ok? So why do welded ones fail?

Mine has welded extensions and passed SVA twice with different examiners (it's a long story).

One of the things I'll change though in the fullness of time.

As for MOT............ask me in 3 years.

So, would that mean that having a rack shortened by welding is also a failure? I haven't done this, but it was mentioned recently on here.
