Mk3/4/5 Tina's and Mk2 Escorts are M12x1.5

BUT

note that Mk 1 Escorts and Mk 1/2 Tina's are 7/16" UNF

There not metric ones they must be the 7/16 ones .... Thanks anyway will try get a bolt from work to make sure.

How can you be sure they are not metric ones?

What are you using to test it?

Dont forget you could be trying to thread an M12 nut onto an M12 stud but they may have a different pitch?

Also, if you are using an off-the-shelf M12 nut rather than a wheel nut, chances are its Metric coarse and not fine, as used on studs.

I just got a M12 x 1.5 bolt the same as the studs i thought i needed but will try a M12 x 1.25 tomorrow as well as a 7/16 cheers neway

Cortina wheels studs are metric From the introduction of the Mk3 ie October 1970 onwards.

Only Mk1 and Mk2 were UNF and they had struts at the front.

Escorts and Capris went metric slightly later circa mid 1972.

Peugeot use M12 x 1.25, ford certainly never have.

All will be M12 x 1.5 except the really old unf stuff

Bear in mind a std M12 bolt is 1.75 pitch not 1.5. (they come in 1.75, 1.5 and 1.25)
