
I'm going to buy a Escort MK2 quick rack from Rally Design within the next couple of days and wondered if anyone could point me toward the ideal
spherical rod ends to use instead of the more normal ball joint ones.
If I can I'd like to get them from Rally Design at the same time so a link would be most helpful.
Just had a quick look and found these. Are they what
I need?
Just had a closer look and the rod ends are male not female.

i spoke to someone awhile ago about this. He said that m14 rod ends are rather heavy, hence why he used smaller ones and lathed adapters to change the thread of the steering arms, and the bore of the upright. M14x2 female rodends seemed a lot easier though so this is what i used. I got them off nick skidmore.
Nice PTFE lined steel are about £20 and I may be able to do bronze for as low as £4.

So if I use the spherical bearings from Nick then I wouldn't have to have rack extensions? (Sorry to jack the thread) ..Confused
Don't RS do a kit to replace normal track rod ends?
Doesn't seem like Rally Design do female ends. Not that I can find anyway.

Mr.Grumpy - Not a clue but I'm sure Nick can answer that. I guess it depends if you want the steering rack to be longer than standard. I'm
designing my whole front end around a standard length rack so I won't need anything extended.
Rusty - Female rod ends screw onto the rack exactly the same way that normal track rod ends do so I'm not sure why a kit would be required. Not
that I've looked at what RS do but I can't see that there'd be any point.

Have a look at Raceleda steering conversion kits . May give you some ideas . Listed in RS catalogue, bit expensive though
i believe you still need an extension with rosejoints on the rack, obviously this depends on the size of it. Some would argue that since you need an extension anyway, you may as well have a smaller thread on the end of it, to save a little weight. Remember it is unsprung mass.

should be ok then, the roses i got were a bit shorter than the ball joints, maybe 10 or 20mm. Are you shortening your rack centre to avoid bump steer?
