
anyone built a 4x4 locost using an Xr4x4?
i know this guy has but his site isnt very good because the picture gallerys are offline

my main concern is on the 4wd gearbox the front driveshaft exits on the drivers side reducing legroom, but by how much?
anybody got any photos/drawings on how to overcome the front driveshaft issue?

There is enough space if using top mounted pedals, but your right it is tight.

More room in my footwell than in a Dax due to their tapering cabin sides. The front prop runs at about floor level so doesn't really get in the
way, and the bulge for the transfer case is under your knee so not even noticed.
My footwell bottom tube makes quite a narrow looking footwell because it has to give room for the front prop, but i've bulged the footwell panel
out into the tunnel to give plenty of room. Could have given myself a lot more but being obsessed with triangulation and stiffness I just had
to put in the diagonal in the inside of the footwell
. My pedal spacing is the same as a lotus elise.

Snugger than some but you only need enough room to use the pedals!
Rather than building a left-hooker, another option to avoid the bulge would be the BMW version. Same principal but bulge/front prop on the other
side. Quite rare though, the 4WD 3 and 5 series...
