Morning all
Have the backplate off my diff in the hope of getting the output flanges out.
Before I break something, can someone tellme the correct way to remove the circlips securing the flanges?
Pic to help explain (obviously someones done the job here):
Thanks folks!
Hello Tim,
I used circlip pliers held open at the right width so the two points touched either side of the circlip and than gave it a tap with a small hammer, a
tiny bit fiddily but easy
Cheers
David
Yep, circlip pliers. reasonably cheap piece of kit, but will quite often have its uses. I really struggled before I got a set.
I found i could just hit one end sharply with a screwdriver and it'd come off rather than just spin round. You might find that on your nicely
cleaned up bits though, that you do just spin it with this method...

My circlip pliers are angled so this wasn't an option. With the diff on a table, I used a long screw driver wedged against my chest to hold one end while I tapped the other. Sorted!
