Read an interesting thread the other day about how some of you wished you had gone for 13" alloys instead of 15". Just wondered what alloys people were using at this size. Also tyre choice seems a bit more limiting. I think R888's are available at 14" so wondered if this size is a good compromise?
Caterham 13" 8 spokes on mine.
Very light and pretty
when i can afford it 13x7" compomotive cxr with 205/60 on rear and 185/60 on front.
Ned.
just waiting for my cxr,s to arrive (8 week lead time)
tyres here already as per the size,s Ned listed::
Revolution deep dish classics 7 x 13
Cheers
Alex
PS
As I've not got tyres yet, would someone enlighten me as to why wider on the rears, grip, looks, handling?
r888's are wider than their marked sizes so 185's are over 195mm so fit most standard arch widths 205 on rear for a little more grip
6x13 four spoke Lasers off a Capri, but patiently waiting until I can afford a set of new 7x13,4 spoke Revo's.
i have decided to go for 14s just because of the reason you gave, it's a compromise between size and tyre availability.
at least where i live, the only 13 inch tyres that are sold are either too narrow, for vans, or too thin so a proper 185-60 (or 70) R13 is not
available (at least in cheap form)
The cheapest tyres i found were actually pirellis (185-65 R14) for 45€ each so that made me choose 14 inchers.
I just splurged $500 US on 4 Panasport Rewinds in 13" off EBay (delivered to Canada). Now I have some nice Toyota 14" mags for sale. My frameless car is started to cost a fair amount...

tadltd did, but obviously not anymore.
A search on google brings up compomotive dealers/agents or check the compomontive website. You might be able to buy direct but it's a while since
I looked and I can't remember. looking at about £100 a corner for the wheels but they are only 4.9kg or so -all iirc!
Ned.
Buy direct from compomotive
They are less than £100/wheel.
We use 13" CXRs on our race car, think they are about £350 for a set of 4
David
13"x5.5" Weller steels for me, in black - ordered direct from weller, but not arrived yet.
p.s. it's a buggy that will be seeing time offroad
Might get some alloys later on if I decide to do some trackdays. For a seven steels look nice on a retro look car.

I'm building mine up with the 14" alloys that came with the Sierra.
They look OK and I was thinking about painting them black, until, for no reason what so ever I weighed them. 60Kg!!
So, a nice set of light 15" jobbies will be finding their way on mine to try and reduce the 60kg penalty of the Ford ones
