Comp CXR's & Brake Discs

If I go for 13" CXR's what is the largest brake disc I'll be able to use. Will the Sierra Wilwood kits from Rally Design (257mm disc) be ok?

I bought princess spec hispecs with bigger than standard discs which will fit under 13" wheels.

I had the 13"CRX with standard cortina brake setup and that fitted perfectly. Now I have the Westfield AP setup. Fits even better. But bigger isn't possible.

Don't know the discsizes of the two but you can look that up.

Only went with the AP's because I couldn't get a 'hard' pedal with the standard cortina calipers. You don't need a bigger diameter disc in a seven for braking reasons...

Fronts shouldnt be a problem but it gets very tight if using Sierra calipers on the rear. And possibly clearance issues with wishbones but I am not that familiar with the MK setup.

I fitted 13" capri wheels over the back sierra brake calipers, you just need to tweak the handbrake lever mechanism a bit.
Otherwise there is a hispec offering which is guaranteed to fit. some have tried the vw rear caliper as sold by raldes as well.

The internal diameter of 13" cxrs is approximately 12"

ive had crxs on both my westfileds with sierra calipers no probs the offset being et 18 dont know if higher offset would cause any probs .as for front discs size i think its 260mm you could ask fluke they have crxs on there car and im sure they use the light weight rotors on the car in brake section

260mm does ring a bell, can measure mine when i get home if you like.

Thanks lads, just noticed Rally design say the kit will fit most 13" wheels.

I was in touch with compomotive with regards to my brake setup, and that one is 260 mm with 4 pot Powerlite caliper, which fits, but due to my home made upright design, I have to use a new CXR design which has the centre of the wheel moved to the outside... I have some crossectional drawings I got from compomotive, I will post them when I get to the office...
