Which bolts should we use?

Depends what it's for!!!!
Mission critical stuff under high load (diff bolts, prop bolts etc) go for 12.9 high tensile, for other stuff 9.9 is fine.... but if in doubt go for the next level up!!!

Anything that's steering, suspension or brakes - high tensile. Grade 8.8 is fine. Don't muck around! Safety first.

Out of interest, what is classed as a 'high strength' stainless bolt?

I use MS series on critical (suspension, steering, brakes)

and good grade stainless on the rest.

None of the above, well, use the donor bolts in the same places they came from and when sourcing new ones just get 8.8 or 12.9 ones.

Who cares!

I'm not so stupid as to say it doesn't matter, but on our 7's, generally the bolt sizes are so over the top and the welds holding the brackets on so undersize, that the brackets or wishbones will tear to pieces long before the bolt even thinks about letting go!

Good point, well made!
