started mounting bits to the chassis ( that is a very good feeling )
but when i mounted the rear axle i found when i put the donor wheels on 165x13 steel cortina wheels the tyre rubs the outside of the trailing arm bracket
the bracket is made from 50x50 box section and the bracket position is as book dim but correct centres
any suggestions most welcome

either your axle is to narrow, you chassis too wide or your wheels have the wrong offset. Easiest solution is to either get some spacers made, or get wheels with a bigger offset. How badly do the tyres rub?

had that on sp1 and sp3,get1/2 inch spacers should cure it

i think im gonna need about 10 mm spacers but will it get better when i put lower profile tyres on as these are 165x13
( look more like lorry tyres lol )

by the way it is a escort rear axle and chassis is to book spec that was the first thing a checked in case misread my tape when building

Have a look at the wheel offset. There are lots of steels in scrappies off Fords that will fit and have different off sets. Tyre sizes will also make a difference. Wheel spacers and long studs are a bit of a bodge.
