I've been looking into the wishbone plans, and found a very good diagram that "flak monkey" put up in another thread
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=10925
This shows the width/offset of the top wishbone (different to the book), but not the length of the top wishbone. I did a few
measurements/calculations now that I have all the bits, and reckon that the top wishbone could easily be an inch longer to get more of the top joint
into the threaded tube.
Does this sound right, or have I got my calculations wrong?
Cheers!
I think your calcs came out the same as mine
Unfortunately I had to chop 15mm off them to get the camber right
Caber
Is that the first mistake you`ve made so far?
Alex
Hi there is two types of the top joint. Both for the same original aplication but when made after market they have different lenght of thread.
One has a longer plain shank at the outer end and the other has thread going about 20mm further to the outer end. But both are the same overall
lenght.
I think off the top off my head that it is the QH part that has the shorter thread lenght. And the TRW part has the longer but please check this your
self.
cheers matt
