Sierra Rear caliper rebuild parts

Hi,
Does anyone know wheres the cheapest place to buy the rubber gasket sets / bellows to rebuild rear Sierra handbrake calipers from an DOHC Sierra Sapphire..

Bigg Red sells them on Ebay about £23, just wondered if they were any other cheaper suppliers..

I have found www.brakesint.co.uk to be best for this kind of thing. THey ahve a very good online shop.

If you go into the shop, select ford, type sie in the search at the bottom and select the model sierra brakes you need you then can pick the rear hydrolics from the left. Click on the rear calipers you have and click the associated parts button and your service kits should be in there,

As above brakes international.

but keep an eye on the total cost of bits you plan to purchase.

It may be just as cheep to go for a complete exchange unit. !!!

i would go get recon units from brakes int.

i have had experience of rebuilding the rear calipers and they are a pig!!!!

metal pivot on the handbrake corrodes so I'd go with recon by pro company and leave DIY to other parts of the build . Remember Brakes are the most important part of the car! I've replaced the rear sierra calipers on my Indy with new shape astra alloy calipers with handbrake! £50 the pair new in the box from e-bay inc pads, I had to alter the mounts but not by much

Pair on e-bay now but there twice what I paid.

to make them fit I Tig welded up the original mounting holes fitted the astra calipers to the disk & hub then drilled new mounting holes.

The gasket set arrived this morning, and the calipers have been rebuilt.

I noticed that one - the recon caliper, the brake lever shaft has a brass sleeve over the pitted surface, which I thought was quite clever.. taking them apart was easy, puttng back was a bit more tricky, needed a 9" G-clamp and a smal socket to compress the internal spring to get the circlip on, over the spiral shaft..

The worst part was getting the pistons back in to engage with the spiral shaft.. a 4 1/2" engle grinder wrench engages with the lugs very well, but still took alot of effort..few

Glad they are all back together...

Im Just replacing pads but i cant wind the piston in anymore then a 35 mm gap for some reason so i cant get my pads to fit in there as the disc is 9mm and each pad is 13.5mm so i need at least anothe 1mm of retraction??

They were new recon calipers 12 months ago and only done just over a 1000 miles but ive fited bigger discs so new pads are going on.
