Sierra handbrake cable
edspurrier - 23/6/07 at 08:11 PM

Got round to sorting handbrake on my part-built Tiger today. This is how the handbrake cable is at the moment - looks wrong to me, I presume the sleeve should be fixed in to that hole in the drum, using the nut that's there inside? Thanks... Rescued attachment brakecable.jpg

I don't think so. As far as I remember, the handbrake cable is not fixed inside the brake backplate. I think I unhooked the nipple and the handbrake cable just pulled straight out. It's held in only by the tension.

I could be wrong though

Isn't the threaded end supposed t to be at the adjuster end, not the back plate

cheers

It doesn't look like my Sierra cable (I'm on drums).

With drums you have an end with what looks like 4 small tangs at the compass points around the cable. You poke this through the drum back plate and the tangs stop the selve being pulled back out.

Thats not a Sierra cable. Sierra one has spring clip/tangs on the drum end and a plastic barrel adjuster screws along the outer at the other end then loops back to the other side via a fixed outer.
