Escort axle rear shoes, help!
andylancaster3000 - 26/6/07 at 01:47 PM

Hi all, we have a 3.9 mk1 escort axle on our car which I have just bought some shoes for from ebay. However they dont seem to be the correct ones. The box says they're for nearly all models of escort so i didn't think i could go wrong. I know that there were two diameters, 8" or 9", I thought that was as fair as the variation went and bought the correct diameter for our drums.

Could anybody steer me in the correct direction and tell me what I should be looking for and what I have bought. Below are a few pictures to help (please excuse quality!):

old and new shoes

Any help would be great,

Cheers,
Andy

Old ones Mk1/2 Escort, Cortina.

New mk3 Escort onwards by the look of it.

Or if from Partco, probably the wrong part in the right box!!

ah, yes. That is an extremely good point i think I've overlooked. Forgot escorts existed past the Mk2! Will check it out. Cheers,

The part number for that types is BS7070
Try Brakes International --- they should also have the fitting kit. If the "H" plates are worn or missing you will have to make new ones.

When you get them You may find in the box you either 4 identical shoes or 2 pairs of different shoes it depends on the supplier.

Check out the "Help" page on www.locostcarclub.co.uk . There is a full schedule of p/n's for RWD Escort brake bits.

The last year of Mk1 production used much the same brakes as the MK2 models -- dual circuit with twin piston rear cylinders.

If you get stuck I have a spare set.
