The steeing rack that I got with the Gemini was cout down.
It had been moved from its original place, which cocked up the stering big style.
I have got hold on a mk1 rack and changed the ends over, so that they had a metric thred.
Now that I have moved the rack back to the original position the rack is just too short without the 2" extensions on and too long with them
on.
I was going to cut a bit off the ends of the thread, and extend threads further down the rod.
Firstly does this seem ok to do?
My measuring of the threads make it 12X1.25, but the die i bought does not fit.
Anyone know what the thread size is?
Is there a better way to do it?
How much thread needs to go into the hole?
Thanks for the offer.
One problem i have is that the threads on one side are only 41 in length.
I wanted to cut a bit off the arms and thread them a bit further down.
Do you remember what size thread you had on yours ?

Mk 1 racks were UNF imperial thread weren't they? Mk 2 Escort racks are M14 same as Sierra but the threads are rolled not cut into the track rod so there is not enough meat for a die cut thread.
