Can anyone tell me what brake discs to use.
It has been suggested to me that solid discs would be lighter, is this the case?
I'm using a zx9 engine which I am told may lack a little in low down torque so would like to keep weight down without braking the bank!

Solid will be a lot lighter then vented for the same given diameter of disc. Using 283mm X 9mm on mine. Only need to go vented for heavier/faster cars really, lots more energy stored = lots more heat produced on stopping

On a 7 standard discs are fine, uprated pads can be useful.

Vented discs are just heavier, drilled discs tend to fracture (not good!), grooved discs tend to wear away pads quicker.....

I'd stick with standard....

Vented discs are completely unneccessary on a light car imo. They can be nearly twice as heavy as a solid disc and the extra cooling will never be needed except under extreme race conditions.
If you are looking to improve the braking then try changing the pads to a better compound, but watch out for WORSE braking when they are cold. Standard pads are more than adequate for a road car.
