Numpty track rod end question
chrsgrain - 28/7/07 at 05:41 PM

Came to try to tighten the nyloc on one track rod end - but the stud is spinning - does this mean the end is knackered or am I doing something stupid - can't see any way to hold it still....

Use a jack to push up under the track rod end, then try to tighten the nut - there should be sufficient resistance in the taper to overcome the nylok.

There are some advantages to castellated nuts with split pins!

I had the same problem this evening, solved by using a G cramp to pull the taper into the steering arm.

If you can, get a plain nut with the same thread to lock the taper then put the nyloc on. It spins when the nylon lock catches on the thread.
