Do they have to be hard lines along the chassis or can I use braided throughout from a legal/sva point of view?
you can use braided and some folks on here have done so and passed SVA.
Try contacting russbost on here,
He makes them up to order and offers a selection of coloured over braids and end fittings.
Good quality and good price too.

Only problem is you might get a slightly soft peddle as there is give in the hoses, not an issue really unless you are a complete loon or are going
racing!

Hi there is no softness of pedal when using hose throuought. It is a myth.
The fact that the pipe costs bugger all and it is the fitting that cost the money. There is little difference in piping the car throughout as a pipe
still only has a fitting at either end.

do you speak from experience by compaing tube vs hose?
from what I gather what you say has been stated, and I would expect that myself but I seem to recall that pon goodridge site they say there is no difference (but they would, wouldn't they - plus it may bot be for long runs).
out of curiousity, whihc would be heavier (the hose fitteins wil be heavier than equivalent nut on the pipes).
the hoses need be crimped type unles they have supporting internal sleeve - see SVA book for more deatils and you would need some evidence at SVA that the hoses have this thing.
