Steering Wheel

Firstly -am I right in thinking that self-cancelling indicators are a requirement?

Secondly wich steering wheel is a direct replacement for the Sierra one? I have a boss which appears OK but there is no cut out for the self cancelling nylon 'collar' and it's a slightly closer fit. Too close for my stalk assembly.

Thirdly besides being gross the sierra wheel makes leg room somewhat tight. If I have to I will use it for SVA but I'd rather not use it at all!

I used a Momo steering wheel with an 'SVA pad' for my test. Europa sell them for Mountney wheels iirc but you can make them fit others with a bit of fettling.
You will need a Momo style boss to fit it to a Ford column.

People have failed the SVA when using the Sierra wheel! Something along the lines of "the car is undrivable because you can't get your legs under the wheel". Probably a fair comment - I could barely drive my car with a Sierra wheel, and it was replaced shortly after passing the test.

Self-cancelling indicators aren't a requirement of the SVA test - just a convenient function. I found that my sierra column wouldn't work without the self-cancelling spacer - it was needed to make everything fit properly.
