Quinten Hazel - unexpected nice surprise
Bob C - 12/9/07 at 10:36 PM

I'm struggling to find one or two bits for my kitten - lower wishbone ball joints was one. Looking at the upper ball joint from a herald I thought maybe I could use one of them - though it's clearly not supporting the car weight in that application, it does appear to be contructed in exactly the same way as ones that do. Anyway I emailed quinten hazel to ask them what the spec was for that part & blow me - prompt reply from their techies saying they hadn't got that data to hand so they'd just go and measure one!!
Damn good for them I say!!!

bob they fit but you will need to make a small shim to get the circlip to fit snugly

Thanks for that froggy - I think you're thinking of the kitten upper joints, the herald ones have 2 3/8 bolts through 'em! They are a perfect fit on the kitten upper upright taper, but the lower one will need to be reamed out a bit.
Quinten Hazel got back to me today - it seems that the pull- out force required to pop one of these balljoints (QSJ103S) is 2.3 tonnes, I reckon I can live with a safety factor of 11.5 ;^)
What splendid chaps eh! I never expected that kind of customer service!
cheers
Bob
