i've built my suspension following the designs for the standard lower wishbone and the newer design for the curved upper wishbone that you find
on this sight. i'm just about to see what uprights i can find at the breakers yard and i had a nasty little thought. my design isn't the
normal locost although it uses the locost suspension, due to the design i was hopeing to use 17" alloy wheels on the front end. is there anything
that will mean that the use of such large wheels would cause problems on the standard suspention setup.
any thoughts welcome.
you guys know everything.
No problem, lower profile tyres take care of the difference in rim diameter --- However are you sure it is a good idea to use such large diameter
rims ?
For a start the ride quality will be truly appalling, the handling is likely to be much less forgiving, the suspension set up will be much more
critical and the rims will be much more likely to be damaged by kerbs. Caterham only build cars with wheels of 13" , 14" or 15"
dia.
