tyres - what to do.
smart51 - 24/10/07 at 07:55 PM

I have a set of Toyo T1-S on my car that I don't really like. 3 are part worn buy have life in them yet. the other is the same but the outside 20mm have very little tread after a day at curborough.

I have a spare Pirelli P6000 which is in good nick and is a tyre I rate higher than the T1-S.

Do I:

1) Put the P6000 on for the £5 it will cost to have it balanced. After all, it won't be too long until It needs a complete new set.

2) Buy a new T1-S for the length of time it takes for the others to finally wear out then replace them all.

I would suggest 1

Easy one this, it's a 3 step programme:-

1. Rotate the tyres,
2. Do another track day,
3. Repeat until all tyres are bald!

Get a set of R888's!

If you dont like the tyres then change em sooner rather than later and try to flog on the t1s'

Youll enjoy the driving a lot more

As Guinness said, 888s every time! I really wouldn't compromise on the most important part of the car with regard to making the thing stick!

I'd either go for number 1 or sell the lot and get some tyres u want.

I've just looked on the web and it says that you only need 1.6mm across the centre 75% of the tyre. The wear is on the outer 20% so I'm fine for the time being. Thanks for all your advice.

i'd go for the spare Pirelli P6000 super tyre
good all round grip and if your not side ways all the time thay seem to last as well

Number 1.

Wear them out and the put some 888's on.

Or Yoko A048's which are much better than 888's.
