firstly i'm using bedford Midi uprights, the best for my chassis, I've got bedford midi brake calipers, each held on with 2 bolts.
I've only got 1 bolt
motorfactors don't seem to be able to supply them, and asked a few people, but no once can agree what thread they are they are
so, who can supply OE bolts
My suggestion would to take your single bolt to your most local fastener supplier and they should be able to supply you with one to match. Remember to
get the correct grade too!
hth, andy
Bedford dealers or invest in a set of verniers and a thread gauge
bedford dealers... are there any? Vauxhall i suppose might be able to help, they were pretty poor last time i went
went to a local bolt supplier but he was unable to find anything (though one of the girls working there was stunning, i'll have to go back
again...)
I measured the bolt as 12mm, he measured 5/16 UNC (which is much different than i measured with a caliper gauge)
I hate bolts! why can't they all be the same size?!
more likely 1/2" something if you measured 12mm and its not metric?
half inch is too big
5/16 is very close to 8mm
I'd hope the bolt man would have measured it. Strange he wouldn't have one.
How far away was 1/2"? it's 12.7mm which implies you might need to have another go with the verniers if it was 'much' too big
well, the vernier say bang on 12mm, the thread was much too fine on the original bolt though. very much like a unf
Could it be 7/16 unf????
i've got a 7/16 unf banjo bolt. too small
i'll call the vauxhall dealer tomorrow. I just wondered if anyone knew anyone who stocked these things

I'm going to have a punt on M12 1.25 pitch.
Does the OE bolt have any markings on the head?

m12 fine. I needed for my bellhousing to gearbox and they were a bit of a pig to get locally (there's a surprise)
BAH to slow. However a hydraulics firm is your best bet for metric fine threads.

Worse there are 2 different M12 fine
1.25 and 1.5 pitch (1.75 pitch being standard)
Namrick sell them in 8.8, but order by phone as IIRC the website adds a lot of postage for small orders.

i really REALLY have a strong disliking for bolts...
its a japanese van so would agree m12 fine
Go to a scrapyard and help yourself ?
My Nissan van callipers are held on with M12x1.25 bolts. I got them at the local supplier where he checks them by screwing them into a nut, a really ingenious method I thought.
^ indeed a ingenius method, but if my local bolt supplier doesn't stock the bolt, they won't have a nut to fit!
I'm pretty sure its M12 fine too, must get a thread gauge at some point

This might save any confusion in the future
ordered, because now my mater cylinder bolts are pissing me off, and they're welded to the chassis
