Which alloy package
bassett - 12/11/07 at 11:41 PM

Hi, my mate can get me the Team Dynamics Pro race alloys for a really good price and said he can do all the tyres at no additional charge so what is the best tyre package to go on the car. The car will be used mainly for those odd sunny days and track days. Heard good things about the Toyo R888s and T1/Rs but would like some advice from people with them or are there any others i should be considering?

cheers for any advice

r888's they have so much more grip than the t1s or t1r's
although maybe not so good in a typically damp English summer

Or Kumho V70a's, (they also have a greater choice of size then the Toyo's and are just as good)

Anything that starts 13"

(Running R888's on 14" wheels at the minute and looking to swap to 13" as soon as these are worn out). Means you can get slicks for trackdays.

Cheers

R888 definitely for me

Ive a set of 15s for sale with R888s on the front and T1-s on the rear, wheels are immaculate and the tyres are almost as new.

worth a wee look?

ACB10s

then

A048s slightly less

then

R888s - still

with regards to driveability in wet/damp conditions how bad are the r888's?

A048R all the way.

Don't know about the wet, but how often will u drive it in the wet?????

When you do cos you get caught out just go steady.

A048R are better than the rest in the dry.

Any of the tyres will get you home in the wet as long as you don't drive like a knob and take due care and attention

I used to use T1-Rs buit they were pretty poor on the track, alright for the road.
I changed them for yokos not the A-048 though just regular street tyres I tend to forget their code name, they were absolutely crap! So now I changed for 13'' and running michelin slicks.
I heard really good comments for yoko A-048. Toyos 888 are ok but the yokos are softer so more stickier
But really if you want to do trackdays then it is much better and cheaper to run 13''s.
