I've bought a part built Locost, the coilovers are GAZ adjustable but are larger than the usual, about 80mm diameter on the outside of the
springs. These won't fit on the "book" front suspension, they foul the top wishbone. So the previous owner has moved the top mounting
brackets up 1.25" (and thus out towards the wheel), which affects the geometry during suspension travel.
What effect will that have, as far as
I can see it changes the camber under travel
So I can either live with that, or move the lower mounting point inboard by 3/4". But will that be OK, will I need to beef anything up? The
springs are marked 300 so are harder than recommended. What will the effect be if I
Help would be greatly appreciated!
hi
what i think i would do is to re-position mounts for upper wishbones ( back to where they should be )
then re-fab new upper wishbones curved tube rather than straight that should give you more clearance

Thanks, but am not that confident on fabricating something that complex, would need tube benders etc, unless they can be bought somewhere?
hi
have a look on the mk indy site they use the curved type
cheers

What you have to watch is that the top ball joints Transit Drag Links) have enough articulation for your suspension travel.
