replacement 16 callipers....
02GF74 - 8/1/08 at 11:39 AM

there are at least 3 M16 brake replacements - 2 by willwood and 1 by raceleda.

the racelada are same price as the lower cost willwoods, the more expensive willwokds having piston seals.

so anyone know if the raceleda have seals (I would guess not) and are this important to have? i.e. is it worth paungthe extra 30 quid for seals.

of the 2 brands, whcih is better?

or others to consider (hi spec?)

I had Hi Spec and didn't get on with them at all, changed to Raceleda and love 'em

It would be interesting to know why

Bremsport - anyone know what they go for now?

See to remember they were the business...

I've got Wilwoods (no seals) and have used them in all weathers for over a year now - no problems. Just make sure you wash them properly with a pressure washer and they are fine.

I changed from standard M16 calipers (solid discs) with Mintex 1144 pads to Hi Spec 4 pots with Mintex 1144 pads to save unsprung weight. The braking performance was not as good as it was previously, the brakes were bedded in, the system was pressure bled several times but I still had a soft pedal and unconvincing brakes. Stuck Ferodo DS300 pads in, vicious mothers as used by the touring cars but still no real improvement. I don't know why, maybe it was a caliper/ cylinder mismatch, I never really got to the bottom of it, but it was during the sprint season and I didn't have the luxury of time to sort it out. So I spent the money and tried the Raceleda ones with Ferodo DS3000 pads and hey, solid pedal and wicked brakes. Who knows...
