I've just bought a Mondeo 2.0L 4X4 Ghia (constant AWD) and all it needs to pass the MOT is a coupe of new (or fixed) headlights as the current ones are too yellow.

So I could easily put it back on the road. However maybe the parts are more useful as a donor car. So anyone have any knowledge about these?

Zetec or Duratec engines are good, possibly use the engine and front transmission for a rear engine transverse drive kit.
I would certainly have a very good look at the rear axle set up as a Sierra replacement in the future for front engine rear drive kits.

If the lights have plastic outer lenses t-cut them or use a bodyshop buffer on them. Come up like new

Early ones had plastic inserts in the head lights which went yellow --- can be bought seperate from the head lamp or can be brought back to life by steeping them in "Sterodent" overnight then a qentle scrub with soft brush.

Old Mondeos can be very reliable and cheap to run.

Engine will be 2.0 Zetec, so good as a donor.

The gearbox is the same as the one in the ultra-rare RS2000 4x4. Apparently they are made of chocolate, so worth money for a working one.

Other than that, it might be worth keeping the torque tube and rear end, but I can't see much use for them in a Locost.

OK thanks for the tip on the headlights.

Seems to have been well looked after and has many toys to play with. Not going to replace my A4 TDi as a daily hack though.
