Column - too close??
panichat - 25/1/08 at 12:14 AM

When it come to the gap between the steering column and the chassis how close is to close? I have a 2-3mm gap just above the lower joint. Will I have to modify FU2?
Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave

A gap's a gap and providing it remains constant and does not foul the chassis at any point of its rotation there is no problem. There is a similar very small clearance on the trials car at this point. This uses the book chassis front end.

Mine is close in a couple of places, at my SVA, the tester said that as long as a clearance is present in all eventualities then is OK, he tugged at mine to check that it wouldn't contact under duress!
