koni adjustable shocks - how to adjust?
2b_pablo - 14/2/08 at 04:21 PM

was planning on upgrading my sierra rear suspension (ford shocks and springs) to coilovers but lost heart in the project.

snapped up some koni adjustable shocks from a sierra instead for the princely sum of £23 off the bay. be a nice comprimise until I take the plunge and replace the lot

can someone tell me how to adjust the shocks tho? There is a little diagram saying turn the top end to adjust but it just seems to turn and not much happen. I certainly didnt hit an end to tell me it was fully adjusted.

any help appreciated cheers.

do you have picture of the offending shocks?

hmm tricky, as a guess I think the black sleeve slides down and your meant to hold something at the top of the piston stationary as you rotate the rod, but that might be wrong.

compress and twist

found this seems there is a little button to be pressed first

Put the bottom eye in a vice pull the plastic dust cover/sleeve down, make sure the shock is fully extended but it should be as it is gas pressured and rotate the rod as the diagram as posted but depress the brass button first to adjust!

But make sure you adjust both shocks the same otherwise it'll be trouble handling wise!Probley best to wind both to minimum before adjusting to make sure they will be adjusted the same.

Watch out not to force the shock adjustment when you get to the end of the range. Guess what happened to me
On a positive note, this adjustment system works well. Even by hand you can feel the difference and on a dyno the curves are good.

sorted, 3 positions on those so matched them both up full hard.

not sure if I want hard or soft tho. will try both
