unfortunately its the calipers that need changeing, you wiil need the matching carriers aswell. (all this assumes standard sierra front brakes)
The calipers are wider on vented discs and the carriers have a wider gap for the disc. IIRC sure someone else will confirm.

Any reason why? Just wondered as I have vented on front of mine and don't want to run into any problems later.

due to the weight of the car the vented discs wont ever get hot enough to work properly i didnt find this out until after id bought new discs and pads.
anyway found a chap who will swap my discs pads and calipers for his solid set up i just needed to know if i did need to swap the calipers

again big thank you folks

Is this right? I have vented discs on my Indy and it manages to stop just fine. They work well on track and on road. How much better would solid discs be?

I made the mistake of putting Hi Spec Billets and Vented on mine. Have'nt noticed any worse braking with vented from solid as the Hi Spec are far better brakes from 2 pot anywaybut I have made the unsprung appreciably heavier. Should have gone for solids. Cost too much now to get them altered to take a solid disc. Used to have Mintex 1144 pads but now use Greenstuff.

thats just what ive found reading through here although i could be way off the mark but anyway thats just me

I would always go for solid discs unless you are seriously into track days - they won't warm up otherwise.

I have vented on mine and they work just great, BUT, my car is almost certainly heavier than your, by a possable factor of 2, AND, I have ABS, (which does work).
Seriously though, you should have no problem with vented set up. If you had fitted solids in the first place, fine, but wouldn't go to all the hassle of changing them at this stage of the game, try them first, I don't think that you will find them "not up to the job", remember se7en is a light car, (other than mine :-) ). Cheers Ray

Standard Sierra vented discs work absolutely fine but if it's lightweight you're after, the solid discs will stop you just as well but weigh considerably less.

hi Phil
I've just changed to a wilwood setup with solid discs and i weighed everything for comparisions.....
and the vented disc weighed same as solid! i was quite supprised! but, the solid disk is 25mm larger diameter. overall saving with ali calipers 5kg.

P.S. got the larger 'saki engine ...the challenge begins soon.
