Threaded inserts
chrisg - 8/4/08 at 01:13 PM

Hello my little popsicles,

Does any one know of a supplier for weldable threaded inserts for use in the ends of wishbone tubes to take a rod end?

Or will I have to make them?

Cheers

Chris

mcgill motorsports on ebay

or rally design.

mcgills ones look like just a theaded peice of metal, rall design ones are like a top hat shape, 1" at the widest, don't know what the narrowest is, but if you get the right wall thickness tube they fit nice and snug. i think the tube i got was like 2mm wall, maybe a bit more

Thanks chaps, I like the look of the Rally design ones but it doesn't look like you can get different outside diameters so I don't know how they'd match up with the wishbone tube sizes I've got.

I've emailed them.

cheers

how many do you need and what size of tube are you using as i am going to have to run a load off for ourselves so could tag onto that if you want

what tube are you using for the wishbones?

I'm using 25mm o/d, 2mm wall seamless, so I need a 21mm insert, I'd prefer the top hat type.

Marc, I need a grand total of four!

With a half inch UNF thread.

I'll mail you.

cheers

the tube i used seems to be 20mm i.d but i actaully measured the wall as well, and worked that you to be 2.6mm so kinda confused now, but i bought the tube to fit the inserts snugly,
