I got a couple of pairs of used SPAX dampers. How do I set the adjustments so I know they are both the same? At the moment one of the back dampers is hard the other soft on compression I would like them both soft to start with then tighten them up as I go.

Usual is to turn the all the way anti clockwise until they stop, then notch them up. According to the SPAX manuals on spax co uk you should turn them up 4 clicks at a time until they are OK if they're damping too much then turn them down on click. Who knows what dampers you have as you haven't stated.

I have GAZ adjustables on the Locost and I know I run the back end pretty much as soft as possible damping wise. The front end is harder but too much gets it skitting about the place on bumpy corners.

I would start off with them four clicks from full soft.

As JC says, soft on the back is a good starting point.

When I had the locost, full hard on the rear dampers meant wheelspin in third.
Progressively winding them back gave me grip and handling back again.

Also, there are some people who say that for a RWD car, stiffness in the front give you turn in and less stiff for the back end gives you traction.


All or some of the above may be ballcocks.
