Based on 7/16" UNF track rod how much would you say would be the minimum distance you would want it to be screwed in?

An inch would have been my gut feeling, but a quick search seemed to show a concensus of 1.5 D...just over 5/8" in this case...I have around 3/4" so hopefully OK..
