Just been out to cut off the flange bolts to get my driveshafts of the diff. Cut one side off, gave it a yank and the whole shaft pulled out of the
diff. I assume this means then that they are push in shafts? and they are meant to come out?
Or have i broken it?
that's you that is!

You may have pulled the differential flange out of the diff still connected to the cv joint!!!!

Sounds like you have a bolt-on diff but someone has had it apart before and not put the circlips on that hold the flanges into the diff.

dont think theres even circlips on push in shafts
didnt have any on mine anyway

Perhaps Miks should add that this is a BMW differential....
haha yep james i realise that now...
Sorry guys its a BMW diff. It has flange bolts but also the splined shaft which slots into the diff casing. Not sure whats meant to come apart. I
would have thought the shafts would have been held in with a circlip or something:S
And if they were push in... why are there bolts?
Anyone have experience with BMW diffs?
Thanks paul but i do have a haynes manual and that said undo the bolts which is why my first thought was S...
