Price for 4x4 back axle
GO - 9/1/04 at 12:14 AM

its the whole lot, 3.62 lsd, shafts, hubs, discs, calipers all advertised as gwo which I'm assuming to be good working order.

he's asking 150 for the lot, does the sound fair?

just been doing a search and all i've found to compare it against is two 4x4 cossie rear diffs, one at 100 quid and one at slightly worn one 25 quid

doesnt seem too bad to me, but I only want the diff!! Need to confirm gwo as good working order so I've got some comeback.

IMHO - around here that's a bit over the top. However, down there it may be the going rate.

We bought a full 4x4 for less than £150 but then we had the task of stripping it all down so... depends whether you want the job of that or not!

Cheers hellfire, seemed a little much to me too, hence the question!

I might hold on for a while, think the gy had a couple - its actually in wisbech just outside cambridge, conventiently close to a huge salvage yard that hold auctions! wonder where the guy got them from.....

Got mine from a bloke at Canvey Island for £75, got his number out of exch+mart, worth ringing around.

I offered £50 for a Sierra 4x4. When it came down to it the guy felt guilty and let me have it for £40! Hows that for negotiation??

Having said that, if I hadn't used the back end I'd probably be asking £100 for it including shafts, discs, calipers and of course the slippy diff.

There's a place that advertises in the back of Fast Ford that might be worth a try... "XR4x4 Sierra Spares - 01702 433233" No connection but might be worth a phone call?

We got a complete 4x4 car for a tenner so it does seem over the odds. I have heard of people paying as much as £250 just for the back end though!
I'd keep looking personally, don't forget that the Ghia 4x4 estate has identical mechanicals.

Paid about £50 for mine if I remember rightly, had to remove it myself though.

protofj have you tried looking on ebay?

I bought mine from there for £180. That was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but I am impatient and wanted one for stripping over the christmass break.

I would imagine you would get one cheaper than that from ebay with a little patience.

We found ours on ebay too, auction ended at £6.50 but we gave him a tenner since we got refreshments and an old tow rope when we went to get it
E-reg Ghia 4x4 Estate I think it was. Sold the engine for £100 and got beer for the front hub assemblies and shafts (thanks Liam!).

Jammy? Us?
