BMW Advert Banned - The world has gone mad
davidimurray - 11/5/18 at 11:21 AM

Sorry - news story below just blew my mind. Have we really go to the point where the Public no longer have a brain and cannot work out for themselves the difference between an advert and reality. Time to go out on the Motorway and do some doughnuts "cos I saw it on an advert"

It has been against the advertising regs for years to promote fast driving. At least 15 years. They knew what they were doing and it's good PR.

Well, I don't know about cars, but I'm going to sue the makers of Lynx because their body spray didn't make women fall all over me, while I drink my coffee that says 'contents may be hot', and eating my bag of peanuts that apparently 'may contain nuts'...

The contents may be hot coffee story has a lot more to it than that. Unfortunately big business was very effective in twisting the story. I read the 'other viewpoint' a few months ago and in reality after looking at both viewpoints they were right to get sued.

The nuts thing - i think thats just a reality of a poorly worded law and people scared to challenge it - although it also makes me laugh.

Peanuts aren't nuts, they're from the same family as peas

OK I have to admit, I'd not seen the other viewpoint, so I had to go look it up.... and I'm afraid I still don't see how they got sued!!

I think I’ll go ride down a spiral carpark ramp on some shopping trolleys....

Remember when PPC Magazine made an advert to go out on the DAVE channel? No? That's because it was banned by UK authorities because we're not allowed to promote "anything which harms the environment."
