speedo trigger plate

i just need a bit of help with my speedo, i have got a lotus elise set up (dash, loom, ecu etc).i'm trying to get the speedo to work a i have
found a lotus elise trigger plate which is fixed to the rear drive shaft. my plan was to fix it to the diff/driveshaft but when it arrived today its
only 80mm inside diameter and bolt on drive shafts are 100mm. so i was wondering if i could get a plate plasme cut (or something similar) with a lager
diameter would this affect the speedo?????
and were can i get a drawing made and then cut????
