If you had a climbing rope with frayed strands that you noticed before a 1000m climb, would you use that?
Kindest Regards,

By the way, I've found they do have a habit of cracking when placed in a cold garage during the winter, despite having them off the car and in
bags. Mine now sit in the house, under the bed, for that reason.
I've used cracked sidewalls for light testing, but not in anger and neither would I.

I have asked obvious questions like this in the past.
makes you wonder sometimes.
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

I have just checked under the bed and can only find dust,......
no good for a track day, but then maybe I need to retrieve the vacuum cleaner from the
vac-forming duty and tidy up a bit

Are they Michelins? Is it very fine surface cracking? If so then I have run them like that in the past with no issues. Obviously its up to you whether
you feel they are safe, but I have seen 4 heat cycle tyres with that very fine cracking. It's as if there is a plastic like surface on the top
with all the logos etc on that cracks when they're used, but the rubber underneath is fine.
As I said, its up to you to judge whether this is the case with your tyres or if they are actually unsafe to use.
