shall i fit my Lsd

Hi all i need some advise before i decide to sell my diff...

i have just spent since last September fitting my new engine and a partial re-style on my car but i still haven't fitted the LSD i bought

My car is a Tiger cat , it now has a reasonable power-plant 2.0 zetec with piper 285 cams , lightened flywheel gsxr tb's mega squirt ect ect 186.7 hp

The diff i have to fit is a standard 3.62 sierra Lsd 7" diff in good condition .. The one in my car is a standard 3.62 non lsd

I am debating if i should sell it as i have spent enough on my car now and i would need to buy bolt on shafts hubs to fit this

I have some people saying don't fit it the car is to light ect

others say a LSD's are amazing ect

Anyone gone from non-lsd to lsd? i want to know how much of a difference one makes?

acceleration ? cornering? (Please bare in mind im not tracking the car its on the road )?

Sorry if i sound an idiot but i have never had an lsd ....

Ryan

Depends on the use, if you just tinkering round town and down the lanes then a non lsd will be fine. If you ever plan to drive more spirited, maybe drift?, plan to do some track days, and maybe some competition (sprints/autosolos etc) then the LSD will be a great bonus.
If you never drive hard enough break traction then you dont really need one!
However at the same time, apart from a slightly different feel to the car tuning in (minmal) theres no real draw backs to having an LSD and not using it.

Can't comment on a Se7en type car but I fitted a Torsen LSD to my Eunos.
Recently did 2000miles through France and into Italy in it.
The difference was amazing, particularly when booting it out of tight corners up Alpine passes.
Whereas the expectation was the inside wheel would spin up and lose traction it just hooked up the diff and catapulted it out of the corner.
Straight-line acceleration from standing starts also dramatically improved
On that basis I'd say do it but as above ^^ it does depend on how you are going to drive it!
HTH.
Cheers, Pewe10

Can't do doughnuts without one!

Seriously if your going to go anywhere near a track day fit the slippy diff, it will also make the car much more saleable should you ever wish to.

I'd think that's enough power that you would certainly be able to benefit. I like mine, it makes the car far more controllable on power-oversteer (that's a slightly less juvenile way of saying I like to do doughnuts with it )

I wasn't going to get one originally but the guy who sold me the diff accidentally sent me an LSD thinking it was a regular diff, really glad that happened in retrospect. I'm sure I would have fitted one by now anyway if he hadn't screwed up.

How much power do you need for an LSD then? more than enough get it in there

I just mean that if you haven't got enough torque to spin up the rears very easily, it's a bit pointless. Not sure what that point is on a 7 but 185 bhp sounds like enough?

Anyway, you're quite right, OP needs to stop messing about and get it installed
