Cortina Hubs/ GBS zero wishbones.
Afternoon All,
A workmate of mine has just purchased a set of GBS Zero front wishbones (designed for a sierra upright), he wants to know what type of lower ball
joint can be fitted.
After a google search we have found the GBS bottom ball joint that is used is...

Can this ball joint be used with the cortina upright if it is reamed to fit? Or is there an easier way?
Geometry isnt a problem with this build...
Cheers Guys, Mark.

As the wishbones are made for the Sierra upright, you do apreciate that they won't fit the Cortina upright without some major surgery, (top one
will require a total rebuild), regardless of the bottom ball joint not being a compatable fixing? Cheers Ray
To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy

That looks like the lower balljoint from a McPherson strut based suspension (Vauxhall Astra perhaps?) where it only deals with lateral forces and the
loads through the anti-roll bar. I hope GBS have actually done some analysis to ensure this is strong enough to support to the full corner weight of
a car...
The Sierra upright has to have a taper cut into it in order to fit balljoints suitable for the Cortina. If this balljoint fits an unmodified Sierra
upright, then logic suggests the hole in the Cortina upright will be too large to start with, so reaming won't be an option.

There where posts a bit back to say the ball joint from an alfa 164 would fit the sierra upright with out mods. If it fits the sierra with out mods it
will be to small for the tina' uprights.
