Sierra front caliper identification
What dimensions / features are necessary to determine the model of a sierra caliper?
Any help appreciated.

There are solid discs and ventilated ones. Considering the ventilated ones, apart from cosworth etc, there seem to be two disc sizes 240mm and 260mm,
dia, the bigger disc also has a bigger caliper and piston. IIRC 50mm dia. compared to something smaller ~ approx 45mm?
I was originally supplied with the wrong(smaller) size refurb caliper, so I learned the frustrating way. The criteria used (apart from 1991, 2 litre
GLX) seems to have been ABS or no ABS. My donor didn't have ABS, but seems to have the bigger brakes from an ABS model.

I think there was also two OEM's.
Mine are Teves. IIRC the others are Girling (check?).
Ive just been quoted £27 inc VAT each for recon calipers (AMK) - sounds good and surcharge is only 11.75 if old one NG. Other motor factor quoted £33
+ vat so shop around (Halfords was about £37 inc).

halfords price match you know. get the factors to give you a written quote, take it to halfords and abuse the system! they're duty bound, look
on the front of the parts desk.
the recon calipers i have seen come through work are a damn sight better than the ones i got. i paid £44 a pair, but they were pretty rough. perfect
in the functional parts , but rough finish. i wish i'd got mine through work, but was a bit new to the loop holes a year ago
