Mintex 1144?

Hi,

Just got some Mintex 1144 pads for my cortina calipers. The pads have come with some plasticy sticker things which the instructions do not mention... Do these need sticking to the back face of the pad, or have I got the wrong idea???

Thanks,

Tim

Hmm,

Does it look like sort of squidgy stuff that might perform some anti-squeel function if stuck to the back of the pad?

I've had lockheed stuff like that but the pads have always already been stuck to the back....?

Unless they're window stickers!

Geoff

Yes, they are anti-squeal pads to stick on the back of the pad exactly as you suspected, having said that, I have never bothered with them!

Seriously good brake pads by the way, you won't be disappointed!

Do these pads have good initial bite?

Yes, very good. From cold they are just the same as std road pads, but they just don't fade like normal road pads.

Make sure you "fade" them in when you first fit them.

Brake a few times gently to bed the pads in, then brake repeatedly from reasonable speed until the pads smell. Then allow them to cool off, and use the car as normal. After doing this, you will have to be a bit of a nutter to fade Mintex 1144 pads on a 7 during road driving!

I have a set of Mintex 1175 pads in 1144 compound with only 10 miles on them to sell if anyone wants to U2U me. They are for Xr4X4 2.8, calipers (non ABS)

see:

http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=562_1182_1189&products_id=9762

I bought and fitted them at the weekend, thought they looked a little small against my discs but put it down to different compound. I then found the box from my original pads and realised I needed mintex 1236 pads not 1175. Anyway I now have a set of new 1236 pads sitting on my desk waiting to be fitted.

Anybody want the 1175's ?

now in for sale section
