watts linkage mounting points
should the two outer mounting points of a watts linkage mount on the chassis or axle?
Thanks, Paul

I've read that it saves unsprung weight if the outers are on the axle and the bellcrank is on the chassis. I think this is how the early Ford
rally cars were configured.

Doing it one way the roll centre is constant wrt ground level the other way it constant wrt the cars cg -- dosen't make much difference all
depends on how easy it to provide decent stiff mountings.
My person choice would a horizontal linkage Malllock style with the bell crank under the diff.

glad to hear somebody else is doing the watts linkage .
mine is using the chassis for the centre mount , axle for the puter points - be warned the lower tube may foul the chassis on droop /roll , so make
sure youve got clearance , ill post some pics later in the week , when i have it finished .

If you don't mind the extra work and designing it, then the mumford link is a VERY good way of locating a live axle, in fact the principle is
the only one that allows easy adjustment of the roll centre height with a live axle.
