I think most people ditch it. Sure it's come up before.
A bit of slapstick never hurt anyone.

you really need a complete new prop, its not very expensive. There are places all over the country that will make one. The rubber bit is unnecessary.

the 4x4 prop is not normally used. The rubber spider is a cushioning device and is normally dumped. If you require a cushioning device in IIRC Bailer
Morris do them for a price. Popular option is a direct feed...

i got brand new prop custome made but another option i very nearly did was to buy the new nose piece (the bit that fits in gearbox) and UJ from Mac#1.
This can then be welded to the shortened tube. The rear UJ's are usually OK.
Carefull as you go with the welding - prop makes a mess of your legs if it fails.

Propshafts
If the rubber donut (guibo) is on a female spline that slides out of the male spline in the gearbox any propshaft place can supply a new reverse
sleeve yoke to suit with circlip Uj`s.
You can fit these yourself. The main points to watch are that the tube yoke (stub) is the correct fit into the tube, the tube will require warming to
dull cherry then it should just pop in, and that you clock the stub and tube before tacking and welding. If you do it correctly chances are it will
not require a balance.
John
PS I built propshafts for over 5 years.
