Brake Pipe spec

Some bargain brake pipe off ebay just arrived and its not quite what I was expecting. Its got really thin 22 gauge wall, never occured to me this may be thinner than what Ive been using, is anyone else using this thin walled stuff on their car ??? Its rated to 214 bar, so surely its suitable for brake lines. I guess it will give less feel, but Im not sure I want to have mix and match brake line on my car.

I don't know about anyone else, but the words "bargain" "brake pipe" and "ebay" in the same sentence worry me a bit.

I seem to recall that solid brakelines should be marked with the appropriate british or international standard that they conform to. Is there any marking on the pipe you have?

I bought some proper kunifer stuff to do the brakes/clutch on my car. Only cost about £20 to do the whole car, and that was from Rally Design.

cheers
Andy

I'd get proper kunifer. It's only £9 for 25 feet from motor factors or brake places (I use JEM in hinckley, brake specialists where cash is good!

I'd get the proper stuff, it's not that expensive and brakes aren't worth the risk

slight drawback, they don't open on saturdays!

Can you wait until monday evening? If so and you tell me what you need (just the pipe, or end nuts as well etc?) I will pick it up for you and you can collect it from me. I can just get there after work before they close as long as the traffic is not too bad! I need a load of stuff from them as well so it will encourage me to get over there and get it!

I'm in Barwell so not far.

JEM are on 01455 230626

postcode for a map search is LE10 1QH

let me know today if you want me to pick owt up and what you need if you do.

OK, yeah I'll call round Monday night for a chin wag and a nosey at what you are up to. No rush for me really so if you dont make it then, no probs. Im doing engine type stuff at the mo. I just need pipe. Would go this afternoon (finish at 1) but I want to finish stripping an engine to take to the block to the machine shop tomorrow morning and tonight is pub night, so time is limited

Cheers

James

Can you PM a postcode or something, a bunch of mates used to live in Barwell so I know the general layout, but its a while since Ive been through.

Cheers

James
